Pricing and invoicing with confidence

Work out your real costs, set a rate and get paid on time.

Know your costs Add up equipment, transport, software, studio time and the hours you actually spend, including meetings and revisions. Your price must cover these before it pays you.

Set your rate Price by day or by project, and add a usage fee for commercial work. Ask for a deposit of around 30 to 50 percent before you start.

Invoice properly Number every invoice and keep copies. Include your name, the client, a description, the amount in TZS, the due date and your payment details. State payment terms clearly, for example 14 days, and follow up politely in writing on the due date.
