Who owns the work?

Ownership, licensing and why registering eligible works with COSOTA matters.

As a general rule you own what you create unless you sign that ownership away. That is why the wording of an agreement matters.

License, don't hand over Where possible, give a client a licence to use the work for a purpose, a place and a period, instead of transferring ownership. Commercial and broadcast use is worth more than personal use, and your fee should reflect it.

Register and agree splits Register eligible works with COSOTA, the Copyright Society of Tanzania. When you collaborate, agree in writing how credit and income will be shared before anything is released.
